Artist Statement:
"This piece captures a moment of quiet transition—an early morning where the peachy hues of dawn slowly awaken the sky, reflecting in the still waters of Puget Sound. The watercolor technique allowed me to explore the fluidity and depth of this scene, layering soft washes of color to mirror the delicate interplay between light, water, and air. The single boat in the foreground, resting motionless in the calm, suggests both solitude and presence—a stillness before the day begins. In the distance, Mount Rainier emerges like a watchful sentinel, its silhouette softened by the pastel tones of the sunrise. The juxtaposition of the mountain's permanence with the fleeting beauty of the sky and water speaks to the theme of transition. Through watery layers, I aimed to evoke the sense of peaceful anticipation that such a sunrise brings, reminding us of the quiet, powerful beauty in nature's transitions."
